Calendar of Events

Our calendar attempts to be accurate. But it's always a good idea to check with the sponsoring venue for late changes, cost, ticket availability,  etc.
There are folk dances every Wednesday at the Women's Club except July and August.  The third Wednesday in the month is a Jam Dance, with jamming musicians.
Events sponsored by the Folklore Society are highlighted in lilac.

Celtic Music Spokane presents: MIGHTY SQUIRREL -- a CD release show for the new recording "Sqworld Record." Join us for an evening of folk and Celtic music from Ireland, France, and Scotland with a healthy dose of acoustic Americana, Klezmer, old-time, and original songs as well!
MIGHTY SQUIRREL is a lively quartet of well-known West Coast musicians: David Keenan of "Ranch Romance" fame, on guitar, mandolin and vocals; Ivan Rosenberg, co-winner of the 2009 International Bluegrass Association Song of the Year Award on clawhammer banjo and dobro; Greg Spatz of the Juno-nominated bluegrass band "John Reischman and the Jaybirds," playing fiddle and bouzouki; and, on fiddle and vocals, Caridwen Irvine-Spatz, whose voice is described in Audiophile Audition as "...Made for Celtic music...lyrical, expressive, flexible and utterly charming." Says Dave Higgs of Nashville Public Radio of their most recently recorded material, "Gorgeous...timeless, otherworldly and uplifting."
The show will take place Saturday, February 13th, 7:30 PM, at The Bing Crosby Theater.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for seniors, students, and groups of five or more. Tickets are available at the door, or at all TicketsWest outlets, by calling 1-800-325-SEAT, or at www.TicketsWest.com (additional charges apply). For more information, visit www.CelticMusicSpokane.com or www.mightysquirrel.net.

The 9th Spokane Chinese New Year celebration!
Chinese New Year 2010 is the year of the Tiger.  February 14th will be the first day of the year according to the Chinese lunar Calendar.  The Spokane Chinese Association will sponsor the celebration on February 13.  Most of the celebration will be held from 1pm to 5 pm at The Central Valley Arts Performing Center of the Central Valley High School, Spokane Valley.  Please come and join us for this most important Chinese culture celebration.

During the time there will be an interesting Chinese Culture Fair, followed by a wonderful performance prepared and presented by the Chinese people from Spokane.  And then a New Years Dinner will be given to those who like to meet and chat with long-time-no-see friends.  It is a quite significant occasion for Chinese families to gather together at the dinner table.

The tickets are $25 for show and dinner, $8 for show only. Please contact the following for detailed ticketing information. Or check our web site: http://barney.gonzaga.edu/~cssa/
